Dr Tariq Mahmood has substantial experience as a commercial/chancery/arbitration barrister. He leads 33 Bedford Row’s Arbitration & Alternative Dispute Resolution group.

Dr Mahmood has multi jurisdictional experience as counsel, arbitrator and mediator in significant and complex disputes. He has a specific interest in the MENA region and Pakistan, and has acted as counsel, sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator in arbitration cases seated in the United Arab Emirates and London.

Dr Mahmood maintains a key interest in resolution of disputes through ADR methods. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) since 2016, a Fellow of the ‘Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (MIArb) and a Fellow of the Arbitrator and Mediation Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ).

His legal expertise has been recognized by invitations from the likes of the Council of Europe to conduct training. He has recently been appointed as an Honorary Lecturer’ in ADR by the University of Keele and teaches on the post graduate programme. He has published extensively in leading journals and lectured internationally.
