Edward is the Managing Partner of Luke & Associates and one of the leading lawyers in Botswana with a wealth of local and international experience. He is listed in Who’s Who of Southern Africa, the International Who’s Who of Professionals in Washington, D.C., and the Who's Who of Leading Arbitrators by the Global Arbitration Review.
He has spoken at several international conferences on international arbitration including at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Kenya branch in August 2014, and at the Commonwealth Lawyers Association Conference in Scotland in April 2015.
He has spoken on panels regarding International Arbitration at the International Bar Association Conference in Vienna in October 2015, and on arbitration and judicial case management at the International Bar Association Africa Regional Conference in Zambia in November 2015.
Edward is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the United Kingdom, Kenya and Zambia. He has been engaged in several high- profile cases in the High Court and the Court of Appeal of Botswana, including appearing in a famous murder trial in Botswana and before the Court of Appeal with Sir Desmond de Silva Q.C..
Edward has acted in landmark constitutional matters before the High Court and Court of Appeal successfully and has acted in landmark arbitration review matter in the High Court of Botswana in ASH vs. TPR.
Edward is trained in ICC arbitration, international arbitration, international commercial arbitration, FIDIC, alternative dispute resolution, international investment treaty arbitration, bilateral investment treaty arbitration between States and investors. He has received special training in international investment treaty arbitration at the law firms of Allen & Overy, Herbert Smith Freehills, Shearman & Sterling, Steptoe & Johnson, White & Case, and Mayer Brown. He has also attended advanced training in international investment treaty arbitration at Kings College London.
